A report from Italian broadcaster SportMediaset aired earlier today has suggested that Napoli’s Dries Mertens is getting closer and closer to joining Inter.

The report details how the 33-year-old Belgian striker, whose contract expires with Napoli at the end of this season, has not communicated anything to the Partenopei yet, but is seemingly thinking of joining the Nerazzurri.

Inter have offered him a two-year contract worth €5 million net per season plus an option for a third season and a possible move to China to finish his career. Nerazzurri owners Suning also own a team in the Chinese Super League, Jiangsu Suning.

Inter have also offered him a €3 million signing bonus, the report continues. The Nerazzurri may also look to sign Edinson Cavani at the request of coach Antonio Conte, who is trying to be prepared for the possible departure of Lautaro Martinez at the end of the season to Barcelona.

Inter still want €90 million plus Junior Firpo and Chilean international midfielder Arturo Vidal to allow Lautaro Martinez leave for Barcelona, the report concludes.
