There are still a few more steps before Inter can unveil Belgian striker Dries Mertens, according to a report from today’s paper edition of the Milano based newspaper Corriere della Sera.

The report details how the 33-year-old is currently evaluating the offer from Inter, a two-year contract worth €5 million net per season plus a significant sign-on bonus. The offer is close to that offered by Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis a few months ago, but the player is considering a change of scenery.

Inter are currently waiting to hear what will happen regarding Mertens’ current contract negotiations with the Partenopei, the report continues. The 33-year-old Belgian fits perfectly in coach Antonio Conte’s system and his arrival at the club may coincide with Lautaro Martinez’s move to Barcelona.

Napoli are doing all they can to convince the player to stay and he returned to their training ground in perfect physical condition, wanting to be ready for a move away.
