Inter may look to build a Belgian core as multiple players could head to Milan, according to a report from today’s paper edition of the Rome based newspaper Corriere dello Sport.

The report details how 33-year-old Belgian striker Dries Mertens could join his compatriot Romelu Lukaku in Milan in the summer, with the Milanese club looking to sign him on a free transfer after his contract expires with Napoli. Former Roma midfielder Radja Nainggolan could return to the Nerazzurri from Cagliari, and Tottenham defender Jan Vertonghen could join on a free transfer after his contract expires with Spurs.

Belgium reached the 2018 World Cup semi-finals, the report continues, and Inter fans are hoping that the Belgian core could be key in the race for next season’s league title. Lukaku has already scored 52 goals with the Red Devils, whilst Mertens is only ten caps away from reaching 100. The duo are good friends, which could help further facilitate a deal.
