Mauro Icardi being purchased outright by Paris Saint Germain will be fundamental for Inter’s Summer transfer window according to a report from Italian broadcaster Sport Mediaset.

The 27-year-old is currently out on loan at the recently crowned French champions, who can sign him up on a permanent basis for a sum of €70 million.

Paris Saint Germain have until the end of the month to take up that option and the report goes on to explain that Paris Saint Germain sporting director and former Inter manager Leonardo would like Inter to grant them a discount for the Argentine.

Inter could well open up to giving a discount given that it looks unlikely that either Ivan Perisic or Joao Mario will be bought by Bayern Munich or Lokomotiv Moscow.

The report goes on to explain that with the money raised through the sale of Icardi, Inter will go in for Brescia’s Sandro Tonali.

As per the report, Inter are ready to offer to take Tonali on loan for a season at a cost of €5 million with a €30 million obligation to buy attached. Inter will also throw in Sebastiano Esposito on loan as a sweetener for La Rondinelle.

The report concludes that should Icardi stay in Paris, Edinson Cavani’s time with the club will be over. The Uruguayan’s contract is due to expire at the end of next month and he has been linked with Inter and Atletico Madrid.
