Inter manager Antonio Conte has told club management, namely chief executive Giuseppe ‘Beppe’ Marotta, that he does not want Jan Vertonghen signed according to a report from Italian news outlet CalcioMercato.com.

Vertonghen is currently on the books of Premier League club Tottenham Hotspur but appears destined to leave the north London based club at the end of next month when his contract with them expires.

Italy is believed to be among his preferred next destinations and although there was some contact with Inter, the Belgian national team defender will not be headed to the Nerazzurri as Conte does not see him in his plans.

The report goes on to explain that a move to Roma seems to be the most plausible hypothesis at the moment for the former Ajax player.

This season Vertonghen has made 26 appearances across all competitions to date, in which he has scored two goals and tallied a single assist.
