Barcelona midfielder Arturo Vidal will not be included in the deal for Inter striker Lautaro Martinez, according to a report from Spanish news outlet Sport.

The report details how Inter’s interest in the 33-year-old Chilean midfielder has cooled off significantly in recent months, despite coach Antonio Conte’s insistence. The Nerazzurri never wanted Vidal to be included in the deal for the 22-year-old Lautaro, in part due to an overabundance of midfielders and because the Catalan side are likely to value Vidal higher than Inter.

The player has also expressed his willingness to stay in Spain with Barcelona until the end of next season, when his contract expires. The Milanese club are looking for a young midfielder, the report continues, with the top name being Sandro Tonali, who is also wanted by Juventus.

Vidal has made 31 appearances across all competitions so far this season, for a total of 1414 minutes. In that time, he has scored six goals and provided three assists.
