As part of a recent interview, current Arsenal and Uruguayan national team midfielder Lucas Torreira has sang the praises of former Arsenal attacker Alexis Sanchez.
Sanchez is currently out on loan at Inter from Premier League side Manchester United and recent reports in the media have suggested that there is a chance that he could remain with the club past the end of this season although any possible permanent stay will depend on him accepting a pay cut.
“He is a player who did very well at Arsenal. Many players tell me that he is a good professional and he now plays for an important team,” former Sampdoria player Torreira remarked in an interview with the Spanish edition of Goal.com.
He then spoke on Sanchez’s importance to Chilean football as a whole and the Chilean national team.
“For Chilean football and the national team, he is a very important player who has won two Copa America. Having Alexis Sánchez is something very precious, all Chileans will be happy to always be able to count on him in the national team.”
Whilst on loan at Inter, the former Barcelona player has been limited to 15 appearances across all competitions to date due largely to injury. In his time on the park, which totals just under 600 minutes, the 31-year-old has scored one goal and provided a total of three assists for his teammates.
