Inter are prepared to offer Italian wingback Antonio Candreva a one-year contract extension, according to a report from Italian newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport earlier today.
The report details how the 33-year-old Italian has impressed many this season with the Nerazzurri, seemingly being rejuvenated by the arrival of coach Antonio Conte last summer. The player’s transformation was initially physical, with work from both the athletic trainer and nutritionist helping Candreva lose several kilos.
Candreva managed to be both tireless in attack and defence, the report continues, just as Conte asked of him. The Italian worked incredibly well with Conte with the Italian national team in Euro 2016, and this relationship has transitioned to Inter as well. Because of this, the Nerazzurri want to extend his contract from a 2021 expiry to 2022.
Candreva has made 26 appearances across all competitions so far this season, for a total of 1805 minutes. In that time, he has scored four goals and provided six assists.
