Nicolo Barella has the chance to make Napoli president and owner Aurelio De Laurentiis regret not trying harder to sign him this coming weekend a report in today’s print edition of Italian daily newspaper Corriere dello Sport suggests.

Prior to joining Inter this past Summer, Napoli had shown a very keen interest in adding the Italian national team player to their ranks and made a huge contract offer to him but it was not enough to convince Barella to choose them over the Nerazzurri.

Following his arrival at Inter in a deal worth €50 million from Cagliari, Barella has become a prominent member of Antonio Conte’s team.

Inter need to overturn a 1-0 first leg defeat this weekend in the second leg of their Coppa Italia semi final tie and with a good performance, Barella could certainly help Inter to do that.

This season the 23-year-old has made 29 appearances across all competitions to date, in which he has scored three goals and tallied six assists.
