Lautaro Martinez’s release clause expires on July 15, not July 7 according to a report from the online edition of Spanish news outlet Mundo Deportivo.

In the past few days Inter chief executive Giuseppe ‘Beppe’ Marotta and sporting director Piero Ausilio have both stated that July 7 is the expiry date for the €111 million release clause but Mundo Deportivo insist that the clause expires on July 15.

The report goes on to explain that Marotta and Ausilio are saying it expires on July 7 in a bid to put pressure on Barcelona to up their offer for the highly rated 22-year-old striker.

Barcelona do not want to pay the €111 million release clause and would instead prefer to do a player plus cash deal for the Argentine national team forward with them willing to offer Junior Firpo, who they value at €41 million, as part of a deal. Inter however do not value the Spanish full back at anywhere near that though.
