Lyon have sparked an interest in signing Inter central defender Diego Godin according to a report from French broadcaster RMC Sport, which was aired a short time ago.

The Ligue 1 side have ambitious plans to bolster their defence and have set their sights on signing the veteran Uruguayan defender from Inter, who he joined on a free transfer this past Summer following the expiration of his deal at Atletico Madrid.

The report does however go on to state that Godin’s annual salary of €6 million is an issue for Lyon, who are unable to afford to pay him as much.

Lyon are just the latest club to have been linked with a move for Godin ahead of the upcoming transfer window with reports elsewhere in the media suggesting he could return to Atletico Madrid or even move to MLS with Inter Miami.

This season Godin has made 25 appearances across all competitions to date, in which he has provided a single assist for his teammates.
