Inter coach Antonio Conte has strayed from his preferred 3-5-2 formation to line-up the Nerazzurri in a 3-4-1-2 formation, which would see Christian Eriksen play behind the strikers, according to a report from today’s paper edition of the Milano based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport.

The report details how the Lecce born coach has taken advantage of the Coronavirus stop to rethink his tactical system at Inter and how best to deploy the 28-year-old Danish midfielder, who joined the club in January in a deal worth €20 million. Conte has changed the formation from a 3-5-2 to a 3-4-1-2, putting Eriksen behind Romelu Lukaku and Lautaro Martinez, in order to make the Dane feel more comfortable.

This system will be deployed against Napoli tonight in the second leg of the Coppa Italia semi-finals, the report continues. Eriksen will be expected to track back when possession is lost and will play in a similar way to what Stefano Sensi was doing at the start of the season, only a little more up the pitch.
