Atletico Madrid are ahead of Inter in the race to sign Paris Saint-Germain forward Edinson Cavani, according to reports from the French press collected by Italian media outlet PassioneInter.com earlier today.

The report details how the 33-year-old Uruguayan striker’s contract will expire with PSG at the end of this season, after spending seven years with the club. The player will be available to sign on a free transfer, with both the Nerazzurri and Diego Simeone’s squad interested in acquiring him.

The former Napoli forward’s contractual demands are too high for Inter, the report continues, giving Atletico the advantage currently. In fact, according to the report, his demands are so high that they could completely kill the deal, which is remarkable given that Inter have, according to the report, offered  pay him up to €7.5 million net per season.

This is currently same amount earned by Danish midfielder Christian Eriksen and Belgian striker Romelu Lukaku. The Nerazzurri are looking for a replacement for Lautaro Martinez, who seems destined to join Barcelona in the summer.
