Former OGC Nice player and club academy director Alain Wathelet has shared his belief that a move to Inter could be a good option for OGC Nice defender Malang Sarr.

Sarr’s contract with the Ligue 1 outfit is set to expire in a matter of weeks and he appears destined to pack his bags and move on to pastures new.

The highly rated 21-year-old central defender has been linked with a whole array of clubs as his contract edges closer to expiry with Inter, AC Milan, Lazio and others all having been linked with potential moves for him.

“He is not very tall, but he has remarkable physical strength and good technique. In addition to this, he has great intelligence and excellent long passing ability. He is always motivated and never satisfied as he always wants to improve,” Wathelet explained in an interview with Italian news outlet EuropaCalcio.it.

“I think the Nerazzurri could be a good option for him. Malang is a very solid defender but he is not too fast, in a very tactical league like the Italian one he could do very well. I think he would be in more trouble in the Premier League.”

Sarr is a product of OGC Nice’s academy and has played at first team level for them since 2016. This season the France under 21 national team player has made 20 appearances across all competitions to date. In his time on the park, he has scored one goal.
