Inter have spoken with Manchester United with regard to possibly extending Alexis Sanchez’s loan until the end of next season according to a report from Italian broadcaster Sport Mediaset, which was aired a short time ago.

According to the report, the Nerazzurri directors decided to formally asked Manchester United about the possibility of extending Alexis Sanchez loan after the Chilean’s performance against Napoli in the Coppa Italia this past weekend.

Reports elsewhere in the media have suggested that the player’s bumper €12 million a year salary could be a hindrance to a loan extension with it unclear as to whether Manchester United will agree to loan him out again to Inter, who are not even paying as much as half of his wages.

Sanchez joined the Nerazzurri club on a season long loan this past Summer and the report explains that Inter chief executive Giuseppe ‘Beppe’ Marotta and sporting director Piero Ausilio have probed the ground with the Premier League side regarding a possible loan extension.

Former Barcelona and Arsenal star Sanchez has made 16 appearances across all competitions to date this term for Inter, in which he has scored one goal and provided three assists for his teammates.
