In today’s print edition, Italian daily newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport have sang the praises of referee Gianluca Manganiello for his performance in last night’s match between Inter and Brescia at San Siro.
Inter raced to an early lead against the visiting Rondinelle via an Ashley Young volley. Inter’s lead was doubled soon after thanks to Alexis Sanchez and Danilo D’Ambrosio made it 3-0 on the stroke of half time.
Inter started the second half the same way as they started the first, with a goal as Roberto Gagliardini made it 4-0. Christian Eriksen and Antonio Candreva scored Inter’s fifth and sixth goals later on in the match.
The report believes that Manganiello got the decision to award Inter with a penalty following a foul on Victor Moses was spot on as was his decision to book Ales Mateju.
He was also right to book Inter defender Stefan de Vrij for his foul on Brescia forward Florian Aye. Moreover, he was right to award Inter with a free kick rather than award Brescia with a penalty when Andrea Ranocchia and Ernesto Torregrossa collided in the Inter box.
