Cagliari manager Walter Zenga has shared his belief that on loan midfielder Radja Nainggolan’s season is over due to injury.

Nainggolan joined the Rossoblu club on a season long loan this past Summer from Inter and has performed well whilst in Sardinia but missed their most recent match, a 3-0 loss to Sampdoria, due to a calf injury and Zenga has admitted it does not look good for the Belgian.

“Season over for Radja? I think so because the seasons ends in 15 days,” he explained following the match.

Nainggolan is facing an uncertain future ahead of the upcoming transfer window. Cagliari have not hidden their desire to keep a hold of him but the fee they would need to pay plus his salary is an issue.

Reports have also suggested that the former Roma midfielder could be used by Inter as part of a deal for another player whilst others have suggested that he may even be reintegrated into the first team picture.

This season the 32-year-old has made 29 appearances across all competitions to date, in which he has scored six goals and provided seven assists.
