Former Inter player Nicola Berti has shared his belief that whatever result Inter achieve against Roma will be decisive in the race for the Serie A title.
Inter head into the match sitting at the Stadio Olimpico in second place six points adrift of arch rivals and table toppers Juventus, who play Lazio on Monday night.
If Inter win they could at least temporarily reduce the deficit with the Bianconeri to just three points but if Juventus win against Lazio the deficit would again stretch to six points with four games left to play thereafter.
“We have a strong squad, despite the injuries that were foreseeable. We have recovered some points on Juve and the match on Sunday against Roma is crucial. It will decide the season,” Berti explained in an interview with Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia earlier on today.
Berti proceeded to speak on Inter attacker Alexis Sanchez, who has been Inter’s best performer since the 2019/20 season got back underway after it had been stopped due to the global Coronavirus pandemic, with him having scored twice and provided six assists.
“I wanted him back when he played for Udinese. He will be decisive from here to the end of the season.”
