Bayern Munich defender David Alaba has revealed his focus is currently on the latter stages of the Champions League rather than contract renewal talks with the club.
The Austrian national team full back, who is also capable of playing at centre back, has little under a year left to run on his current deal with the Bundesliga champions and reports in the media have stated that talks regarding an extension have been unsuccessful so far.
With is contract set to expire next Summer, a number of clubs have sparked an interest in signing him including Inter, Manchester City, Real Madrid and Barcelona.
“The talks continue. At the moment I’m not very involved because I want to focus completely on the Champions League. At the moment all my concentration is on this,” he explained whilst taking part in an advertising event earlier on today, as quoted by Italian news outlet FCInterNews.it.
This season the 28-year-old, who has been with Bayern Munich since 2008, has made 38 appearances across all competitions to date. In 3333 minutes on the park, Alaba has scored two goals and provided two assists for his teammates.
