Inter will offer a new contract to striker Lautaro Martinez at the end of the season according to a report in today’s print edition of Italian daily newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport.

The highly rated 22-year-old has been strongly linked with a potential switch to Barcelona ahead of the upcoming transfer window for some time but the situation has radically changed in recent weeks.

Barcelona’s interest has reduced whilst it appears Manchester City do not have a chance and him leaving now seems unlikely.

Lautaro is already under contract with Inter until 2023 but as per the report the Nerazzurri will offer him a new deal worth €5.5 million a year.

The report does not specify what Inter’s plans are with regard to the €111 million release clause in his current contract although other reports in the media have suggested Inter will look to increase it or remove it entirely.

This season the Argentine national team player has made 41 appearances across all competitions to date. In his time on the park, he has scored 18 goals and provided six assists for his teammates.
