Atalanta wing-back Robin Gosens has revealed what it means to him to have been linked with a host of top clubs ahead of the upcoming transfer window.
The German has been one of, if not, the best performing wing-back in Italy this season with him having popped up with no shortage of goals and assists throughout the campaign.
“It is a great honour to be linked with teams like Juventus or Inter. This makes me proud and makes me understand that I’m doing a lot of right things this season,” he explained in an interview with German news outlet Spox.com.
The former Heracles Almelo player proceeded to admit that he feels bad when he hears about the price clubs could pay for him and admitted that he would understand if Atalanta were to cash in on him.
“When I hear that clubs are ready to offer €30 million, I feel really bad. I struggle to understand, but on the other hand Atalanta knows very well that I’m having an incredibly good statistical season, numbers that will be difficult to overcome next year. So from an economic point of view it might also be understandable to sell me.”
He then went on to reveal that he has held no talks with the Bergamo based club over his future and admitted he would be open to a move to a top club should the opportunity present itself.
“We have not dealt with the topic yet. First of all, I am looking forward to the great Champions League adventure with Atalanta. We have qualified for the Champion League for a second year in the row and very few would have expected it and it is a huge success.
“Maybe in the future it will be time to fight for the Scudetto but if I had the opportunity to move to a high level club, I would also be stupid if I did not accept it.
“On the other hand, here in Bergamo we are not so far away from becoming a prominent team. That is why there are not so many destinations that make sense to me.”
Gosens proceeded to discuss his dream of playing in the Bundesliga.
“I would go willingly, but not as a spectator, but rather a player on the field. I would like to satisfy this desire. The financial aspect will never be important for me. It’s all about the project and it does not necessarily have to be a club in the Champions League.”
