Inter club captain Samir Handanovic has shared his belief that the 2-0 win over Napoli is an important win and a win that Inter deserved to get.
Danilo D’Ambrosio put Inter ahead early on in the first half as he curled a shot past Alex Meret in the Napoli goal and Meret would also be beaten by another curling effort later on in the game when Lautaro Martinez curled one past him from range.
“It is an important win like they all are. We took advantage of the moment and we all suffered together. We were deserving of the win.
“Now let’s think about the last match and the Europa League,” the experienced shot-stopper explained in an interview with Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia, a short time after the full time whistle at San Siro.
The Slovenian, who made a number of saves in the match, then spoke on the side returning to second place thanks to the three points after they had temporarily slipped down to third due to Atalanta’s win over Parma.
“Inter must always aim as high as possible. The ranking does not change much, but the important thing is to win and prepare for the Europa League.”
Next Handanovic spoke about how he and his teammates are feeling from a physical point of view after playing so many games in quick succession.
“I think everyone feels tired, it is not an easy time for anyone. You have to be smart and manage the games when you can, the defence can become a strength and can improve further.”
In conclusion Handanovic spoke on Inter’s final game of the 2019/20 Serie A season that comes this Saturday away to Atalanta.
“Atalanta are a tough team to face. They have great quality and are very physical. I congratulate them on what they have done this season. I think it will be a good and open game on Saturday.”
