Former Inter striker Mohammed Kallon has spoken on the bizarre circumstances that saw Inter end up signing him back in 1995.
The Sierra-Leonean joined Inter from Swedish club Spånga IS FK and he spent the next four years on Inter’s books, during which time he had loan spells at Lugano, Bologna, Genoa and Cagliari.
He left for Reggina in 1999 but re-signed for Inter in 2001 and spent a further three seasons with the club before moving to Ligue 1 side AS Monaco.
“Inter signed me at the age of 15 in curious circumstances. In truth I was going to Germany to sign for Kaiserslautern,” Kallon explained in an interview with Italian news outlet TuttoMercatoWeb.
“I had stopped in Milan for two days and asked my agent if he could find me a club to train with during the short period and he took me to Inter. They saw me in training and everything started from there.”
The 40-year-old proceeded to reflect on his spells at Inter as a whole and he reminisced about some of the players he played alongside at the Nerazzurri.
“I had splendid years at Inter where I played with great champions. It was a great team with a great culture. It was an opportunity that I tried to make the most of.
“I had people like Vieri and Ronaldo in front of me, they were champions on and off the pitch. When the opportunity arose, Nicola Ventola and I went the extra mile. It was a great feeling for me to wear the Nerazzurri shirt.”
In conclusion he went on to reveal that he would return to live in Milan if the opportunity presented itself and spoke on his ambitions to become a coach.
“I am taking the courses to become a coach and a coach must be ready to move anywhere. I would have no problems in moving.
“I found myself very well in Italy and if there was the possibility I would go back to live in Milan. Sometimes I still come to Milan because I am taking the coaching course at Coverciano.”
Kallon made 64 appearances across all competitions for Inter, in which he scored 20 goals and provided three assists.
