As of March 31 2020, Inter had made a loss of €103.1 million this season according to a report from Italian news outlet Calcio e Finanza.

This is a significant increase compared to the same date last year where Inter had a record a loss of €31.6 million. When the financial statements closed that year, Inter had made a total loss of €48.3 million.

There are multiple reasons for Inter recording such a big loss this season. Club revenues dropped by some €30.5 million whilst the club’s revenues rose by €73 million. Increased personnel costs from €114.7 million to €141.3 million.

The players cost €91.9 million as opposed to €87.3 million and the coaches cost €19.7 million as opposed to €12.4 million the previous year, performance bonuses rose to €19.2 millino compared to €4.5 million in 2019 and and the amortization costs increased from €65.9 million to €90.6 million.

It remains to be seen what Inter’s financial statements for the end of June show. The COVID-19 impact will certain have had an impact on the figures and the report concludes that the €48.2 million capital gain earned from the Mauro Icardi sale will give Inter some help.
