A report from today’s paper edition of the Milano based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport has detailed how Inter could still sign Barcelona star Lionel Messi.

The report details how Nerazzurri CEO Beppe Marotta again confirmed that the club wouldn’t be looking to sign the Argentine star this summer, and yet the club would have the capabilities to do it.

Inter’s owners the Suning group have invested over half a billion euros in Inter since 2016 and signing Messi would cost around €260 million in total, but the purchase may be worth it considering shirt sales, sponsorship, advertising and global appeal.

Should Messi decide to leave Barcelona, the report continues, Inter and the Suning group would be ready to welcome the star with open arms. The 33-year-old Argentine forward has made 42 appearances across all competitions so far this season, for a total of 3630 minutes. In that time, he has scored 30 goals and provided 26 assists.
