Inter president Steven Zhang has found important sponsors in China willing to help Inter fund a move for Lionel Messi according to a report from Italian broadcaster Sport Mediaset, which was aired a short time ago.

The Nerazzurri club have sparked an interest in signing Messi in recent weeks and whilst Zhang is stuck in China due to the global COVID-19 pandemic, he has been working on finding sponsors to help Inter finance a move for Messi, who is widely regarded as one of the greatest players of all time.

Messi’s contract with Barcelona is due to expire at the end of the coming season meaning Inter could land him for nothing but even if Inter could sign him on a free transfer, it will not prevent them from having to pay him a huge salary.

The 33-year-old has made 42 appearances across all competitions to date this term in which he has scored 30 goals and provided 26 assists for his teammates.
