Winning the Europa League would give great certainty to Inter at the moment where the future is uncertain according to a report in today’s print edition of Italian daily newspaper Corriere dello Sport.
Inter are back in Europa League action later on today when they take on Bayer Leverkusen in the quarter finals later on today and the Nerazzurri club are just three wins away from winning the competition for the fourth time in their history.
Should Inter overcome their German opposition later on today, Inter president Steven Zhang could possibly be present for the semi final, where Inter would face either Shakhtar Donetsk or FC Basel.
Zhang has been stuck in his native China due to the global COVID-19 pandemic for several months but it would appear that he is getting closer to returning to Europe and that could well be in the coming days if Inter win tonight.
The Chinese businessman is due to meet with Inter manager Antonio Conte at the end of the season to discuss his future at the club.
Following a recent public outburst by Conte, relations are understood to have become strained and several doubts over whether Conte will still be in charge of Inter past the end of this season have surfaced.
