Talks between Fiorentina and Nikola Milenkovic over a new contract have resumed according to a report in today’s print edition of Italian daily newspaper La Nazione.

The talks between La Viola and the Serbian defender had been at a stalemate but in the past few days the talks have resumed.

As a result, Fiorentina could prefer to sell Germain Pezzella and keep a hold of Milenkovic, who has drawn links to Inter recently in various media reports.

Inter are looking to bolster their defensive department in the upcoming transfer window and Milenkovic is understood to be on their radar among several others including Hellas Verona’s Marash Kumbulla.

The report goes on to explain that Inter are monitoring Milenkovic’s situation and concludes that an offer of €35-40 million would weaken Fiorentina’s resilience to resist the option to cash in on the player.

This season the 22-year-old made 41 appearances across all competitions during which he managed to score a total of five goals.
