The extra day of rest that Inter have over Shakhtar Donetsk could ultimately matter very little according to a report in today’s print edition of Italian daily newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport.
Inter secured their place in the Europa League semi finals on Monday night with a win over Bayer Leverkusen whilst Shakhtar Donetsk had to wait until last night to secure their place as they eased past FC Basel.
The Milan based news outlet highlights that Shakhtar Donetsk dominated proceedings and took the lead quickly and due to them being 2-0 up at half time, they were able to ease off in the second half, where they still managed to score a further two goals and thus will not be as tired as they would have been had they went all out for the whole game.
Inter and Shakhtar Donetsk are due to face off at the Merkur Spiel-Arena on Monday with kick-off scheduled for 21:00 local time.
