Inter are one of three clubs who have an interest in signing Manchester United central defender Chris Smalling according to a report in today’s print edition of Italian daily newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport.

Inter manager Antonio Conte would like to have Smalling in his side in the event that Milan Skriniar is to depart the club amid links to Tottenham Hotspur and Real Madrid.

Roma, who Smalling spent the 2019/20 season on loan with, as well as Newcastle United are both interested in signing the Englishman.

Manchester United have realised that their initial demands for Smalling of €20 million plus €5 million in add-ons has become increasingly difficult for them to get.

The report from the Milan based news outlet goes on to explain that the former Fulham player would like to complete a return to Roma, where he had an enjoyable loan spell, during which he gained many plaudits for his performances.
