Lionel Messi is reflecting on his future with Barcelona according to a report in today’s print edition of Italian daily newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport.

The Argentine national team player’s contract expires at the end of the upcoming season and in order to calm him down, Barcelona president Josep Maria Bartomeu will need to honour the promise he made to Messi to bring Neymar back to the club, something which will be extremely difficult given Barcelona’s financial situation.

It would in fact be easier for Paris Saint-Germain to bring Messi to the French capital and reunite him with Neymar there and form a trident alongside Kylian Mbappe.

Paris Saint-Germain have the funds to be able to achieve a move as do Manchester City, where Messi would be reunited with former manager Pep Guardiola if he is to move.

Messi has a €700 million release clause in his current contract but nobody is entirely clear about the contents of Messi’s contract.

Inter are also interested in Messi and it will be down to the Suning group to convince him to swap Catalonia for Milan. The Chinese company will have to make a colossal financial effort in order to sign Messi.

The report from the Milan based newspaper goes on to explain that Messi’s recent purchase of property in Milan is for non-football reasons. The reason for the purchase is because the Messi family have plans to launch a fashion brand and wish to do so in Milan, a city known for its fashion, hence why property had to be bought.
