Inter owner and Suning’s majority shareholder Zhang Jindong has shared his hope that Inter can win the Europa League final on Friday night.

Inter are due to take on Spanish side Sevilla at FC Koln’s RheinEnergieSTADION at 21:00 local time in Cologne, Germany and winning would see Inter pick up their first piece of silverware in nine years.

“The history of Inter is full of passion and enthusiasm, and I hope that August 21 will make us happy again by winning the first trophy since we tookover the team,” Zhang Jindong explained to those present at the Suning Tesco 818 mid-year consumer party, as quoted by Italian news outlet FCInterNews.it.

Zhang Jindong and Suning purchased a majority stake in Inter back in the Summer of 2016 from Indonesian tycoon Erick Thohir and in their years in charge they have spared no expense in their bid to take Inter back to the top with them having spent hundreds of millions on transfers.

The recently published Bloomberg billionaires list highlighted that in Zhang Jindong, Inter have the second most wealthy owner with only Fiorentina’s Rocco Commisso being more wealthy than him among Italian club owners.
