European football’s governing body UEFA are hopeful of being able to have some fans present for the UEFA Super Cup according to a report in today’s print edition of Italian daily newspaper Tuttosport.

Due to the global COVID-19 pandemic, matches across the globe have almost entirely been played behind closed doors in empty stadiums for months now and UEFA hope to be able to have fans at the 67,215 capacity Puskás Aréna in Budapest, Hungary.

UEFA hope to be able to have fans fill 30% of the stadiums capacity, therefore meaning around 20,000 fans could be present for the match on September 24.

The participants in the UEFA Super Cup are yet to be confirmed with both the Champions League and Europa League finals yet to be played.

Paris Saint-Germain, Lyon and Bayern Munich could all participate in the match as the winner of the Champions League whilst it will be Inter or Sevilla who participate in the match as the Europa League champions.
