Inter central defender Diego Godin has insisted that he and his Inter teammates must play with heart in tonight’s Europa League final against Sevilla.

“We have to be Inter, especially the one of the last few months that has played towards the end of the season and in the Europa League matches,” he explained in an interview with Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia, ahead of the match at the RheinEnergieSTADION, which is scheduled to kick off at 21:00 local time.

“We must put all our work to good use. It is a final, we must play with heart. It is necessary that each of us give our maximum, the right attitude, the right spirit and the correct attitude.”

Next Godin spoke on tonight’s opponents, who are no stranger to success in the competition having won it five times in their history, including three times in a row at one point in the past decade.

“Sevilla? They are a great team, we respect them, They have players of a certain level and great experience, it is no coincidence that they have reached the final, in any case it will depend on us, our destiny is in our hands.”

The Uruguayan national team player proceeded to speak on the impact that he has made during his first campaign with the Nerazzurri club following his arrival on a free transfer last Summer.

“My impact on the Nerazzurri? I have certainly learned a lot, learning a new way to play and interpret the role of a defender. I constantly follow Conte’s advice and directions, I do not want to stop learning.”

The former Atletico Madrid defender then spoke on the need to be a team rather than play as individuals.

“A match against Sevilla is a match of pride for me but it is not the individual that counts, but the team, the staff who are always with us every day and the fans whose contribution is constant and always felt by us.”

This season the 34-year-old, who is under contract with Inter until the end of the 2021/22 season, has made 35 appearances across all competitions to date. In his time on the park, he has scored one goal and has also provided a single assist for his teammates.
