Lazio are close to closing out the deal for SPAL left back Mohamed Fares, but Inter are ready to get involved should it not be finalised soon, according to a report from Italian newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport earlier today.
The report details how the Biancocelesti’s sporting director Igli Tare will meet with the Ferrara based club in a few days to close out the deal, but if it falls through then the Milanese club would be ready to quickly insert themselves into the mix.
Inter have been a fan of Fares for a while now, the report continues, and even attempted to sign him last summer before he suffered a serious knee injury. He knows coach Antonio Conte’s 3-5-2 well and is a strong left wing back. The only issue is that Lazio are seriously pushing for the deal, leaving Inter on the sidelines for now. The 24-year-old made eight appearances last season.
