Francesco Acerbi could leave Lazio before the transfer window closes at the start of next month according to a report in today’s print edition of Italian daily newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport.
The player has become annoyed by rumours that have been leaked in the media recently with regard to his contract demands and recently made it clear, something that Lazio were not happy with and contract renewal talks could ultimately be stopped before they have even really started.
Acerbi is under contract with Lazio until 2023, when he will be 35, but there is a risk that they could be stuck with an unhappy player.
Inter and Napoli both have an interest in signing the experienced central defender and therefore there is a possibility that Acerbi and Lazio could go their separate ways by October 5, when the transfer window closes.
During the 2019/20 season, Acerbi made 45 appearances across all competitions, in which he scored two goals and provided two assists for his teammates.
