Cagliari president Tommaso Giulini has insisted that it is up to Inter whether Radja Nainggolan will return to the club or not.

Nainggolan spent the duration of the 2019/20 season out on loan at the Cagliari and Cagliari have far from hidden their bring the Belgian back to the club but things are currently out of their hands and in those of Inter.

“Will we bring Nainggolan back to Cagliari? It is certainly one of the first things the coach asked me,” he explained in an interview with Italian broadcaster Sport Italia outside the Lega Serie A assembly which was held earlier on today.

“As you know, it is Inter who decide, this is not a transfer window where we can’t allow ourselves to make offers to buy players.

“Let’s stay at the window and see what the evolution will be from here to the end of the market.”

Giulini reiterated that Cagliari would like to bring him back under the right conditions and was quizzed on what the right conditions are for Nainggolan to return to the Rossoblu club.

“Obviously all of us would like to bring him back to Cagliari if the conditions are right. What are those conditions? We certainly don’t have the opportunity to buy him.

“The boy is a professional, he is in love with Cagliari and for many reasons he would like to play for Cagliari, but being a professional at the moment he wants to test himself in Milan and probably show Conte that he is not inferior to the other midfielders. I think this is how the player feels today.”

During his loan spell at the Sardegna Arena, the former Belgian national team player made 29 appearances across all competitions. In his time on the park, which totalled just under 2300 minutes, the 32-year-old scored six goals and tallied seven assists.
