Diego Godin’s future could be away from Inter according to a report in today’s print edition of Italian daily newspaper Tuttosport.

Despite him being promoted to a starter during the end of last season, Inter have taken the decision to sell him as they understand that he still has a market, despite being 34-years-old.

The team currently courting him most is Ligue 1 outfit Rennes. Rennes are to play in the upcoming edition of the Champions League and need players such as the experienced Uruguayan national team player.

Godin’s annual salary of €5.3 million however represents an obstacle for Rennes and a transfer is also complicated by the fact the player himself does not want to leave Inter, who he still has a contract with until 2022.

In his first season with the club following his arrival on a free trasfer, Godin made 36 appearances, in which he scored two goals and provided one assist.
