Italian football journalist Paolo Condo has shared his hopes to see fans back in the stadiums by the time the first Milan derby of the season comes around.

Inter and city rivals AC Milan are due to face off for the first time this season on match day four of the fast approaching 2020/21 Serie A campaign on October 17 at San Siro with Inter the designated home side for the much anticipated encounter between the two great rivals.

Italian football fans have not been in stadiums for six months now due to the global COVID-19 pandemic. A number of other countries have began to welcome a reduced number of fans back into stadiums whilst many others have test events scheduled. It still remains to be seen when fans could be back in the stands supporting their teams in Italy though.

“Let’s hope so,” he responded when asked about fans being present for the Derby della Madonnina in an interview with Italian radio station Radio Punto Nuovo late on Monday night

“In my opinion, the reopening of stadiums, if it is done, must be done everywhere. I would not like to see stadiums where some fans are allowed and others are not.

“I have read that in this regard, the authority of the Regions is very strong, but the football authorities must guarantee unity to the clubs.”
