Torino defender Armando Izzo is very close to joining Roma according to a report from Italian news outlet CalcioMercato.com.

The Italian central defender’s agent Mino Raiola was contacted by Roma chief executive Guido Fienga to bring him a centre back and yesterday’s talks have seen Izzo come very close to joining the Giallorossi club.

Roma had courted Izzo last year but the bad relations between Roma’s former sporting director Gianluca Petrachi and Torino president Urbano Cairo meant a deal could not be done.

The report goes on to explain that a deal between Torino and Roma could be reached in the coming hours and Roma could pay a sum of €22 million to sign Izzo, who has also been strongly linked with a potential switch to Inter in recent weeks and months.

During the recently concluded 2019/20 season, the 28-year-old made 37 appearances across all competitions and in his time on the park he scored a total of three goals.
