Italian journalist and football finance expert Marco Bellinazzo has explained how Inter will stand to benefit from the Italian tax laws when they signed Arturo Vidal.

For several weeks now Vidal has been on the brink of joining Inter from Barcelona but the move is reportedly on hold until Inter manage to make a sale to free up space in what is currently a very large Inter squad.

Multiple reports in the media have stated that Vidal has agreed to a two year contract with an option to a third year with Inter worth €6 million net a year to him.

“There is a combination of tax rules that allows you to sign players at Vidal and save a lot of money,” Bellinazzo explained in an interview with Italian broadcaster Sport Italia, which was broadcast earlier on today.

“Many sports directors can create profitable deals that otherwise would not have been possible. Vidal will get around €6 million plus bonuses. Normally it would have cost €11 million gross but with the tax decree it will cost €7-8 million.”

Last season Vidal, who has just under a year left to run on his contract with Barcelona, made 43 appearances across all competitions. In his time on the park, he scored eight goals and provided three assists for his teammates.
