There could be an increased amount of fans allowed into the stadium for next month’s Derby della Madonnina between Inter and AC Milan according to a report in today’s print edition of Italian daily newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport.

A few days ago it was announced that a total of 1000 fans would be allowed to attend outdoor sporting events by Italian minister for sport and youth policies Vincenzo Spadafora.

The hope is that in the coming weeks stadium’s capacities could be increased up to 20% thus meaning that there could be 15,000 fans in attendance to see the two great rivals lock horns on October 17.

Whilst far from what a usual crowd would be like for such an occasion, the report from the Milan based news outlet insists that such a crowd would nevertheless be a further step toward normalacy in Italian football.

It still remains to be seen how long it will be until stadiums are allowed to open at full capacity again.
