Cagliari have not given up hope of bringing Radja Nainggolan back to the club according to a report in today’s print edition of Italian daily newspaper Corriere dello Sport.

Should Nainggolan leave Inter, it is understood that his preferred destination would be a return to the Sardinian club, who he spent last season on loan at and had a previous spell at earlier on in his playing career.

Cagliari have asked Inter if they would allow Nainggolan to return to them on a basis of a free loan with an option to buy attached but Inter are against this idea.

As things stand Cagliari cannot currently afford to splash the cash and it remains to be seen what conditions Inter would be willing to do a deal under.

The report from the Rome based news outlet explains that new Cagliari manager Eusebio Di Francesco, who worked with Nainggolan at Roma, hopes to have him in his team as soon as possible in order to complete his ideal Cagliari side.
