Inter are considering to make a move to for Napoli’s Serbian international defender Nikola Maksimovic as a replacement for Milan Skriniar, should he be sold to Tottenham, according to Italian transfer market expert Alfredo Pedullá.
According to the report, the Nerazzurri are considering to sign the former Torino player as a last minute signing during this transfer window, but only if Spurs make another attempt to sign Skriniar by paying Inter’s asking price of €50 million.
Maksimovic’s contract with Napoli is set to expire at the end of June 2021, and it is unlikely that his contract with the Partenopei is extended, with no talks between the parties scheduled, the report continues.
This has prompted Inter to consider signing Maksimovic, who is accustomed to playing in a back 3 from his time at Torino, either this transfer window or next summer on a free transfer when his contract expires.
Therefore, should Skriniar leave Inter, the club hopes to be able to swoop in and sign the Maksimovic at a lower price, and then go all in for Chelsea’s N’Golo Kante.
