Inter striker Lautaro Martinez discussed the Nerazzurri’s impressive 4-3 comeback against Fiorentina late last night in an interview with Italian broadcaster DAZN after the game.

“I’m really happy, we started the new season at our best, doing what the coach wants and recovering many balls in midfield.

“Among other things, we scored four goals against a difficult team, the important thing was the three points.”

The 23-year-old Argentine striker, who was at the centre of transfer market talks involving Barcelona for the majority of the summer, then discussed his goal celebration.

“Agustina is always present, a person who has been by my side for better or for worse.

“I scored and dedicated the goal to her, to the child on the way and to my family in Argentina, who I feel close to me, I thank them very much.”

The 23-year-old Lautaro, who is contracted to the Milanese club until 2023, is likely to negotiate a new deal with Inter now, after a move away to Barcelona failed to materialise.

The Blaugrana failed to pay his €111 million release clause when it was valid at the start of July, which led to significantly slower talks as the Milanese club had no interest in losing the player.

Lautaro played the full 90 minutes of the season opener against Fiorentina, scoring one goal and providing one assist as the Nerazzurri ran away with a vital three points.

Inter’s next game is against Benevento on Wednesday.
