Inter central defender Alessandro Bastoni has taken to photo sharing social media platform Instagram to provide an update to fans after he tested positive for COVID-19 in the past few days.

Bastoni was the first Inter player to contract the virus and fellow central defender Milan Skriniar has since also tested positive for COVID-19 too.

Both players are to miss the upcoming Derby della Madonnina match against AC Milan on October 17 and are likely to miss the Champions League group stage opening fixture against Bundesliga club Borussia Monchengladbach too.

Bastoni took to Instagram Stories and posted: “Hello everyone! I want to thank you for the many messages that I have received, I’m fine and I’m in isolation! See you soon at San Siro, a hug. Ale.”

The highly rated Italian youth national team representative joined Inter back in the Summer of 2017 and he had his first team breakthrough at Inter last season.

Since his arrival at the club, the 21-year-old, who is contract to the club until 2023, has made 35 appearances across all competitions to date, in which he has scored two goals and provided one assist.
