Inter back-up goalkeeper Ionut Andrei Radu has taken to photo sharing social media platform Instagram to provide his followers with an update of his condition after it was confirmed earlier on today that he has tested positive for COVID-19.

The highly rated Romanian national team shot-stopper’s positive test is the fifth in the Inter squad in the past few days with Alessandro Bastoni, Milan Skriniar, Radja Nainggolan, Alessandro Bastoni, Roberto Gagliardini all also having tested positive.

Radu spent the first part of last season out on loan at Genoa and the second half of the season on loan at Parma and has yet to make an appearance for Inter in competitive action since his return to the club.

Radu is a product of the Nerazzurri’s youth academy and the 23-year-old is under contract with the club until the end of the 2023/24 season. Radu has only ever made one senior appearance for Inter and kept a clean sheet in it.

He posted the following to his Instagram story: “Unfortunately, today I received the news of the positive result after testing for the COVID-19 virus, however asymptomatic. In life I often encountered impediments in any field and I had the opportunity to learn from an early age that ‘what does not bring you down, makes you stronger’.

“I urge you to listen to the advice of the medical staff and to follow all the recommendations of the authorities. At the same time, I want to thank you for the large number of messages I received and for the care I felt reading them. I look forward to resuming my activity and returning to the field, more determined than ever.”
