Contrary to reports elsewhere in the media, it was Bayern Munich who tried to set-up a swap deal with Inter involving Christian Eriksen and Jerome Boateng according to a report from Italian news outlet FCInterNews.it.

Reports in the German media have suggested that it was Inter who explored the possibility of swapping the Dane and the German but this report states differently.

As per this report, Bayern Munich contacted both Inter and Eriksen’s agent over a possible move. Inter asked for €30 million for the former Tottenham Hotspur player and this led to Bayern Munich offering Boateng in exchange.

Inter decided to reject this proposal due to feeling well covered at the back with Andrea Ranocchia and Milan Skriniar both staying with the club and because if they were letting Eriksen go they wanted cash, not a swap. They also told this to Paris Saint-Germain who came forward and offered Idrissa Gueye.

The report states that even if Inter did need a centre back, Boateng would not have been at the top of their list and they would have preferred to bring in a promising young player like they did when they signed Skriniar back in 2017.

The report concludes that Inter have clear ideas about what they want to do with Eriksen and those plans do not include offering him out to clubs in Europe or selling him off.
