Christian Eriksen will contest with Marcelo Brozovic for a place in the Inter starting line-up against AC Milan in this weekend’s Derby della Madonnina according to a report in today’s print edition of Italian daily newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport.

With Stefano Sensi suspended and Radja Nainggolan and Roberto Gagliardini both out for the match due to COVID-19, Inter manager Antonio Conte only has two other midfielders in Nicolo Barella and Arturo Vidal available in addition to Eriksen and Brozovic.

As per this report there are a number of reasons why Eriksen could start for Inter in the attacking midfield role. The first reason is the psycho-physical moment he is currently going through.

The national team has given him certainty and he has also shown himself to be physically fit and has still done well despite his limited time on the field for Inter this term.

The second reason is his recent admission that he does not want to sit on the bench and this is what every manager wants, a motivated player who is prepared to take to the stage and perform.

The report goes on to add that Brozovic could start for Inter in the event that Conte wants to go with a more muscular midfield to take on the Rossoneri.
