Inter manager Antonio Conte could make a virtue of necessity by counting on three players who came close to leaving the club in the recently concluded Summer transfer window according to a report in today’s print edition of Italian daily newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport.

Ivan Perisic was not part of Conte’s plans at the club last season which lead to him being loaned out to Bayern Munich. He has since returned and has been utilised as a left wing-back in Conte’s system.

Marcelo Brozovic was meanwhile on the transfer list during the transfer window but has ended up staying put at the Nerazzurri club, who he joined back in 2015 from Dinamo Zagreb.

Milan Skriniar is another player who came close to leaving. He looked set for a switch to Tottenham Hotspur but has remained and has went from almost leaving to becoming the club’s vice-captain.

The report goes on to conclude that this weekend’s Derby della Madonnina against AC Milan could be a new chance for Christian Eriksen to give a spark to his Inter career.
